<aside> 💡 If you are due to miss a session, learners will need to complete this Reporting Absence form prior to the absence (or on morning of if you are unwell) to let us know via this form.

Our expectation is that you will be present for every day of your training. Since we rely heavily on peer-led learning, it is important that everyone commits to be present and active throughout their time training with us. Missing more than a session or two will significantly impact your learning and the learning of others on your cohort.

Just like in the workplace, it is your responsibility to catch up with any session content missed, and to communicate with your peers about any project developments missed while you are absent.

Planned absence

We understand that there may be personal circumstances which means you may not be available for every day of the programme. We ask that you let us know before the programme begins, of any planned absences. If something comes up during the programme, we ask that you give us 2 weeks notice as a minimum.

Missing more than 2 sessions of the programme will significantly impact you learning. If you expect to miss more time than this, let us know.

For any sessions you do miss, you will be expected to find time to catch up on the material you missed.

Unplanned absence

On any day you will be absent, let the programme facilitator know at least two hours notice before the programme begins. This means by 15:00 on the Software Foundation.

We expect you to provide a reason for your absence. Acceptable reasons for absence include: illness, bereavement and medical appointments.

Lateness

We expect you to arrive on time for each session. If you are running late, please inform us as soon as you can.

Continued absence and lateness

If you have been absent for more than 2 sessions consecutively, or have been absent for more than 4 sessions non-consecutively, we will arrange a time to speak about your absence. This conversation will focus on the impact on your learning, and ways we may be able to support you to continue on the programme.
